Yes, an opportunity to improve your english and my dutch. I am not a Dutch native, I am Portuguese by birth and raised in America. I work here in Holland while my wife does her doctoral studies at Leiden university. As to the 'Why?' question previously posed: I am new here in Holland, I'd like to make more aquaintances. I have been an audiophile since I was a teenager and I want to share my interest and my musical taste with other like minded individuals. I hope this serves to shed some light on my intentions. Also, some write: 'I am not interested in joining'. Ok, but it comes as no surprise to me that there would be many uninterested people, so mentioning it on the board serves little purpose. Why what?

I think the comments in the previous messages about keeping the group together are right. It is important to me to have this be consistent. The main reasons is because it is only once a month and the group is small. A missing person here or there is normal, but any more often wouldn't make the commitment so interesting because cancellations can stretch gatherings 2 and even 3 months. You end up losing track of it and the group disbands.

Hello everyone, I am glad to see that there is an interest in my idea for an audiophile group. Unfortunately I must limit the group to 4 becuase I have 2 small kids and it would become noisy, also more people would not be able to sit in a good listening position. Yes, I do want the discussion to be 'critical' but not to the extreme. I wanted to be as clear as possible about the intentions for the group so that everyone joining shares the same interest, increasing the chances that there is a good chemistry within the group -with that said, I dont want to appear an extremist because neither my ear nor my equipment can stand up to such scrutiny. So to be clear, I want to form a group which stays on topic but is not snobbish in it discussions.

I am interested in starting a once a month audiophiles group that meets at my home near Gouda. I would like to limit the group to 4 (myself included) and meet for about an hour and a half in the evening. Each person will bring a selection of about 3 songs for the evening and we will listen and critique equipment/the music. Audiophiles wanting to bring equipment to test are encouraged. Interested in grouping with folks having a broad range of musical tastes and listening experience. This is not an opportunity to have a party.
